The fabric above was not put in the printer straight and the lined effect is due to the ink getting low.
This is hand dyed fabric and took the ink well. It is a fairly fine cotton. The sample below is printed on calico.
I will bring the samples to the NEC.

Maggi21, I haven't tried PFD fabric from Whaleys, when I looked at their website I was confused at the choice. I must have another look .
Hillsidethreads, I prepared some fabric using white conditioner a few days ago. I used it neat with scrunched pieces of fabric and left it for an hour or so before hanging on my indoor line to dry. Once dry I ironed the pieces and cut them into A4 sizes. I used some calico, fine and thicker cotton. I was brave and used some home dyed fabric; all was well. I have printed on three pieces using designs from the Paint designs I have.
Robyn, thank you for wishing us great show this year. I should be able to blog while I am at the NEC because I have bought a Mobile broadband dongle. I hope it will work. Where abouts in Australia do you live? I visited Perth and Sydney a few years ago, I would love to visit again.
I look forward to hearing from you with news of your work.
Cathy
Whaleys are very good for providing samples although you do have to pay for them, refundable if you place an order with them.
